SDG 15 – Life On Land

This intervention is designed to provide multiple opportunities to explore inter-disciplinary learning by drawing connections to real world problems. This month SDG 15 – Life On Land was chosen as a theme. Students were involved in exploring the problems that arise due to pollution, sustainable practices that can be followed at home through 3Rs, sensitization towards conservation of terrestrial species. Primary Head Mistress, R. Maheswari who conceptualised the intervention states that, “all activities were integrated to the curriculum and were showcased as ‘performance’ tasks in order to assess learners holistically”.


Go Green rally

Student showcase was planned through Go Green rally, project presentations, show and tell and student conference. The highlight was the Vanmahautsav where students were given seed balls in order to set up their own green space at home. This exposure has instilled in students the need to derive purpose out of little actions that can be taken to conserve our planet. It was observed that students became vocal through advocacy and raising awareness on important issues that need our attention today. We are confident that our students will shine as global leaders championing causes that align with world peace and prosperity.

மனிதன் உயிர்வாழ உணவு மிகவும் முக்கியமானது. அந்த மனிதன் ஆரோக்கியமாக வாழ சத்தான உணவுகள் மிகவும் அவசியம். அதை பறைசாற்றும் விதமாக தமிழ்த்துறை சார்பாக 18.10.22 முதல் 22.10.22 வரை 1-ம் வகுப்பு முதல் 5-ம் வகுப்பு வரை உணவுத் திருவிழா கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. இத்திருவிழாவில் அனைத்து மாணவர்களும் பாரம்பரிய உணவுகளைக் கொண்டு வந்து, அனைவருடனும் பகிர்ந்து மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக கொண்டாடினர். உணவே மருந்து! மருந்தே உணவு!

வாங்கிடுவோம் கைத்தறி ஆடைகளை, வாழ்த்திடுவோம் கைத்தறி தொழிலாளர்களை. “கம்பன் வீட்டு கட்டுத் தறியும் கவிபாடும்” என்பது பழமொழி. உடை என்பது ஏழை, பணக்காரர் என்ற பாகுபாடின்றி நம் புறத்தோற்றத்தை அழகாகக் காட்டும் ஓர் அழகுக் காவியம். கைத்தறி தொழிலை சிறப்பிக்கும் விதமாக, ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஆகஸ்டு 7-ம் தேதி தேசிய கைத்தறி தினம் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது.


Raksha bandhan

Raksha bandhan. We celebrate Raksha bandhan on 11th of August. Raksha Bandhan is a festival celebrating the bond of love between a brother and sister. On this day sisters tie rakhis made of threads on the wrist of their brothers for their long and happy life. Brothers take vow to protect their sisters. Children made hand made rakhi and it was displayed in the chart.

Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 09.09.2022. The Chief Guest of the day was renowned Sri. G. Selvarajan,  General Secretary of Prestigious Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Chennai. The program then proceeded with the cultural to make the day more colourful. A PPT was projected highlighting A TRIP TO DAKSHIN BHARATH HINDI PRACHAR SABHA  by the students of Primary wing. Our respected Chief Guest appreciated the program and addressed the students with his motivational speech and distributed the prizes to the Winners of Elocution & Recitation contest.

VYRA Evolution '23 was conducted by the alumni of MVM on 15/7/2023. Students of Class VII and VIII with a total of 11 teams (40 students)have registered and participated in various competitions like article writing, poster making, icon making and debate. Beach Cleanup Event which was conducted on 21/5/2023, State Minister of Health and Environment had inaugurated the event. 11 students participated in the event. Ms.K.P.Jayalakshmi represented our school along with the student contestant R.Adit Krishna of VII A1. R.Adit krishna has participated in the drawing competition and his work was selected and displayed during the event. The winner was awarded with a certificate.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chetpet, Chennai -31 conducted its 41st Annual Sports Meet on Wednesday 23.08.2023 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Periamet, Chennai from 8 am to 1.30 pm.
All athletes participated in the track and field events with true spirit of sportsmanship and that was lauded by all.
In a colourful and cultural programme, students ranging from Classes I to XII showcased their latent talents. Drills and demonstrations were well received by one and all.
The Winners were awarded with Certificates, Medals and Trophies. Overall Championship Shield was won by ABHIMANYU House.

Artificial Intelligence workshop was conducted on 12/8/23 at MVM-Chetpet. 36 teachers from various schools actively participated and got an insight and motivation to learn and explore more about AI, Machine learning and Data Science. Resource person of the day's workshop was Dr. Sachin Gupta, Dean, Academics and Research and Professor in the Department of Computer science engineering, MVN University, Delhi. He explained about Computer vision module of AI with examples.

‘Kalavarshini’ – The most anticipated cultural event of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Chetpet made a magnificent come back after a hiatus of 3 years. This event, which was held on 11th of August, showcased a wide array of captivating performances, including dance, music and various fun filled competitions. Cine Artist ‘Shrutika Arjun’ was the chief guest of the day. The competitions like Retro Rhapsody , Catch me if you can, Last one standing and Vintage voyage were held onstage whereas, programmes like Cricautica, Cinema cinema,Canvest, Tackle Tussle and Photography were conducted offstage. The winners were given certificates and cash coupons by the Principal, Shri. G Haribabu.

Our school organised a Career Guidance session by T.I.M.E. on Friday, 21st July,2023 for class 12 Commerce stream. The resource person Mr. Rajesh Chandrasekaran explained in detail about the integrated MBA programme of IIM and also provided valuable inputs regarding the entrance exam, internship, job opportunities,etc. The session was very informative and the students greatly benefited from the session.

Counselling for students

The counselling department of MVM Chetpet, organized Adolescent Educational Programme for the girls of class 12, on 8th June, 2022 to create awareness on physical, social and mental health during adolescence. Peer counselling sessions for classes 11 and 12 are conducted periodically by Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, Counsellor, during the lunch break at Ved bhavan to motivate and mould the selected students to help and counsel their peers.

Students’ Council Elections for the year 2022-2023 was held on Wednesday, 15th June, 2022 in our school premises. A free and fair election, in online mode, was conducted wherein the students of class 12 voted for posts, SPL Boy and SPL Girl. After the counting process the names of the elected representatives were announced.

Our teacher, Mrs.V.Shankari, of Senior Secondary wing addressed the students on the importance of Conservation of Resources and the alarming at which they are facing the threat of depletion. Avantikaa of XI A3 delivered a speech on Water Conservation and its judicious use. Students of class XI took an active participation in the Essay writing competition on the topic “ Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. Out of 477 participants, Amrut Anand of XIA9 bagged the First prize.

Hindi Diwas Celebrations

Smt. Chithra Ramesh, Head of the Hindi & Sanskrit Dept., was invited as Chief Guest by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar, in connection with Hindi Diwas Celebrations on 14.09.2022. She distributed the certificates to the winners of various activities and delivered a speech, stating the importance of learning different languages besides mother tongue and as many skills are enriched in both verbal and written communication to overcome the future challenges.

It was a proud moment for Maharishi Vidya Mandir Sr. Sec. School, Chetpet, when the students who emerged with flying colours in the Board Exams 2021-2022 were commended in Ved Bhavan for Achievers’ Day on 23rd September 2022. The Felicitation event was graced by our Chairman of MVM group of schools, Shri. Ajay Prakash Srivatsava who felicitated the students and congratulated the parents and teachers for incessant support extended by them. He also urged the students to dream big and accomplish it by hard work and perseverance. The top scorers were awarded merit certificate and cash award.


Trip to Malaysia

28 students and 2 teachers of MVM Chennai participated in the India-Malaysia Youth Exchange and Study programme from 25th Sep.2022 to 2nd Oct. 2022. During this programme, the students had the opportunity to interact with political personalities,High Commissioner of India, government officials and visited many prominent places and had a good exposure about the culture, tradition, curriculum and the Teaching-learning methodologies of Malaysia.

A Career Guidance program for foreign universities was organised on 29th October 2022(Saturday). The students of Std XII were briefed about the courses available in various institutions in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Ireland by IDP consultant. The students were provided guidance about the admission procedure and mode of application.
